The heart
of the
California Delta

Bethel Island is a haven unto itself, known as the “heart of the California Delta.” The island was named after the Bethell brothers, Franklin Cloud and Warren King, who established the island’s first successful farm—Sand Mountain Ranch. The island spans some 3,500 acres, bounded by the pristine waters of Piper Slough to the north, Sand Mound Slough to the east and Taylor Mound to the west and south. It’s minutes from over 1,000 miles of the Delta’s relaxed beauty and recreational bounty. Not to mention the best boating waterways in the country.

More than 2,000 people call Bethel Island home. The warm Mediterranean climate and one-hour drive time to the Bay Area makes it an ideal year-round escape for urbanites who dream of a Delta hideaway.
